<br />:>0 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST l7, 1971 <br /> <br />Mayor Renick announced that on September l6th a Family Food Dollar Conference <br /> <br />will be conducted in the local National Guard Armory, with Governor Holton's <br /> <br />wife to be the honored guest and featured speaker. <br /> <br />On behalf of the United States Jaycees and the Martinsville Jaycees, Vice-Mayor <br /> <br />West presented to Mayor Renick and the City of Martinsville a Certificate of <br /> <br />Appreciation in recognition of the promoting of civic and social advancement <br /> <br />within the community, said Certificate being dated July 10, 1971. <br /> <br />Councilman Hobson relayed to Council the concern expressed by citizens <br /> <br />residing in the new Wray Park Development over the lack of off-street play- <br /> <br />ground facilities for the some 350 children in the area, many of whom have <br /> <br />no place to play except in the streets; whereupon, Council was informed that <br /> <br />the developer of this subdivision has dedicated an area of fourteen acres for <br /> <br />public park purposes and that, contingent upon the preparation of plans and <br /> <br />the appropriating of funds, it is hoped that in the not-too-distant future <br /> <br />an orderly development of the dedicated area will take place. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />-" <br /> <br /> <br />w. ~:~~,-Cr;;:k of Council <br />
