:>0

TUESDAY

AUGUST l7, 1971

Mayor Renick announced that on September l6th a Family Food Dollar Conference

will be conducted in the local National Guard Armory, with Governor Holton's

wife to be the honored guest and featured speaker.

On behalf of the United States Jaycees and the Martinsville Jaycees, Vice-Mayor

West presented to Mayor Renick and the City of Martinsville a Certificate of

Appreciation in recognition of the promoting of civic and social advancement

within the community, said Certificate being dated July 10, 1971.

Councilman Hobson relayed to Council the concern expressed by citizens

residing in the new Wray Park Development over the lack of off-street play-

ground facilities for the some 350 children in the area, many of whom have

no place to play except in the streets; whereupon, Council was informed that

the developer of this subdivision has dedicated an area of fourteen acres for

public park purposes and that, contingent upon the preparation of plans and

the appropriating of funds, it is hoped that in the not-too-distant future

an orderly development of the dedicated area will take place.

Council was adjourned.

-"

w. ~:~~,-Cr;;:k of Council
