,-

....-

,-

') -
-

TUESDAY

JULY 27, 1971

County Pony League (see minutes of 3-9-71), and that the first official

use of this park coincides with Council's meeting date herein covered,

being the host side of the 1971 Virginia State Pony League Tournament.

Council also commended City personnel and interested citizens and

organizations involved in the planning and constructing of this facility.

Council acknowledged receipt of an invitation from the Federal Government's

Housing & Urban Development Agency to attend on July 29th a special ceremony

at the Agency's new office in Richmond, Virginia.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adjourned to an

Executive Session to consider certain real estate matters, at the conclusion of

which Council re-convened in regular session and, upon motion (duly seconded)

and by a recorded vote which was unanimous, accepted the offer of the Piedmont

Trust Bank, as Agent for the S. Kolodny Estate, to sell to the City the

Kolodny Apartment property adjacent to the City's Municipal Building property,

and fronting the east side of South Moss Street, for the sum of $105,690.00,

with the first and initial payment therefor of $25,690.00 to be made upon

delivery of deed and title thereto, appropriating said initial sum from

increased revenue estimates and from the General Fund's Emergency Account,

with the balance of $80,000.00 to be budgeted in annual installments pursuant

to terms offered by the seller. Inasmuch as the City's usage of this property

for municipal purposes is contingent upon long-range plans and development,

Council assured the tenants thereof that they may expect no near-future request

for vacating of the premises.

Council was adjourned.

w.

, Clerk of Council
