<br />Ie) <br /> <br />. ..... <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 27, 1971 <br /> <br />In connection with prior minute references to the Patrick Henry Mental Hygiene <br /> <br />Clinic, Mayor Renick informed Council that compensation of a physician and <br /> <br />secretary therefor is paid direct to them by the State of Virginia, which <br /> <br />compensation is not included in the "matching dollars" category of the <br /> <br />Clinic's operation. <br /> <br />Council unanimously approved for City Manager Noland's execution (on behalf of <br /> <br />the City) a proposed contract (dated July 16, 1971) between the City and <br /> <br />Lester Lumber Company, Inc., pursuant to the City's subdivision regulations, <br /> <br />providing for future development by Lester Lumber Company of its property <br /> <br />(consisting of approximately 900 feet frontage) alongside Fairy Street <br /> <br />Extension northward from Northside Drive to a point near the entrance to <br /> <br />the Elk's Club, with deferral of certain contractual obligations upon the <br /> <br />City for utility installations. <br /> <br />Because of the anticipated lack of a quorum at Council's regularly-scheduled <br /> <br />meeting for August 10, 1971, three members indicating that they will be away <br /> <br />from the City on that date, Council postponed and rescheduled said meeting to <br /> <br />Tuesday, August 17, 1971, directing its Clerk to readvertise public hearings <br /> <br />and re-docket such other items of business (to August 17th) as have been <br /> <br />heretofore scheduled for August 10th. <br /> <br />Oounci1man Hartford relayed to Council a notice that another series in the <br /> <br />local defensive driving program will begin August 3rd and continue each <br /> <br />Tuesday through August 24th. <br /> <br />Council noted, for its record, that development of a major portion of the <br /> <br />City's new Southside Park has just been completed at a cost of $70,000.00, <br /> <br />including donations from the Martinsville Jaycees and the Martinsville-Henry <br />
