<br />...- <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />2 :) <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 13, 1971 <br /> <br />Upon being informed that the City can not feasibly and/or economically provide <br /> <br />City sewer service to property (occupied by Mr. Richard Blackstone) located at <br /> <br />228 Amy Street, Council authorized the waiving of the monthly sewer charge at <br /> <br />this location and for the present occupant-owner. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of the following bids for the City's 1971-72 <br /> <br />street-paving and/or resurfacing program (consisting of 15,820 square yards <br /> <br />of Double Seal; 1,127 square yards of Prime and Double Seal; and 5,989.1 tons <br /> <br />of 1-3 bituminous concrete), after which Council accepted the lowest bid <br /> <br />submitted (viz., that of Thompson-Arthur Paving Company) and awarded a <br /> <br />contract for this work to said lowest bidder: <br /> <br />Adams Construction Company <br />Virginia Asphalt Paving <br />Thompson-Arthur Paving Company <br /> <br />$89,726.09; <br />$91,875.16; and <br />$63,641.14. <br /> <br />Mr. Frank D. Fulton, Vice-President and Trust Officer of The First National <br /> <br />Bank of Martinsville & Henry County, and on behalf of Cornerstone Apartments, <br /> <br />appeared before Council and sought guidance as to procedures which would <br /> <br />permit Cornerstone Apartments to enlarge its complex at the corner of East <br /> <br />Church Street and Starling Avenue and the usage of adjacent properties recently <br /> <br />acquired. Council referred Mr. Fulton's inquiry to the Planning Commission <br /> <br />for consideration and assistance. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />a,' <br />W.
