<br />{~ <br /> <br />1/ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 13, 1971 <br /> <br />With reference to the property rezoning petition filed May 11, 1971, by <br /> <br />Mr. Victor A. Lester, the Planning Commission submitted the following <br /> <br />report and recommendations, after which Council called for a duly-advertised <br /> <br />public hearing thereon to be conducted at Council's forthcoming August 10th <br /> <br />meeting: <br /> <br />The Martinsville City Planning Commission conducted a public hearing <br />on June 17, 1971, with regard to a petition submitted by Mr. Victor <br />A. Lester requesting the rezoning of two lots as shown on the attached <br />map. Lot No. 1 was proposed to be rezoned from R-9 Residential to a <br />P-2 Professional classification. Lot No. 2 was proposed to be rezoned <br />from R-9 Residential to R-6 Residential. <br /> <br />Following due consideration of these matters on Tuesday, July 6, 1971, <br />the Commission voted to make the following recommendations to Council. <br /> <br />1. That Lot No. 1 be rezoned from R-9 Residential to P-2 Professional <br />classification. <br />2. That the petition for rezoning Lot No. 2 be denied. <br /> <br />Because of the nature of the request for the rezoning of Lot No.2, <br />the Commission suggested to the petitioner that he might seek the <br />relief of the same nature sought under this petition from the Board <br />of Zoning Appeals. <br /> <br />With reference, also, to the property rezoning petition filed May 11, 1971, <br /> <br />by Mr. Earle W. Greene, Realtor, as Agent for Waldron & Fralin, Inc., <br /> <br />pertaining to a 3~-acre tract of land off Brookdale Road (to the rear of the <br /> <br />Cooper & Ratcliff Store), the Planning Commission presented the following <br /> <br />report and recommendation, after which Council called for a duly-advertised <br /> <br />public hearing thereon to be conducted at Council's forthcoming August 10th <br /> <br />meeting: <br /> <br />On Thursday, June l7, 1971, the Martinsville City Planning Commission <br />conducted a public hearing with regard to a petition submitted by <br />Fralin & Waldren, Inc. and Mr. S. G. Whittle, III, requesting the <br />rezoning of approximately 3~ acres of land off Brookdale Road from <br />R-9 Residential to R-6 Residential, to allow for the construction of <br />a 100-bed nursing home. Then on Tuesday, July 6, 1971, the Planning <br />Commission gave final consideration to this matter examining further <br />evidence submitted by the petitioner. <br />
