<br />C~) <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 22, 1970 <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation, a (verbal) petition filed by Mr. Harold P. Williams, Jr., <br /> <br />requesting a Special-Use Permit to allow him to construct an apartment <br /> <br />complex (consisting of sixty units) on the east side of Banks Road Extension, <br /> <br />near Myrtle Road, said complex proposed to be built on five lots, viz., <br /> <br />Lots Nos. 13 through 17, being a portion of seventeen lots owned by Ernest <br /> <br />H. and Barbara N. Williams, identified as Hidenwood Estates Subdivision. <br /> <br />Through the Virginia Municipal League, Council and other officials of the City <br /> <br />were invited to attend a meeting sponsored by the twelve largest municipal <br /> <br />governments in the State, known as the "Urban 12", to be held in Richmond, <br /> <br />Virginia, January 5, 1971, to consider matters which might be presented to <br /> <br />the forthcoming special session of the Virginia General Assembly in the <br /> <br />interest of the various cities and towns in Virginia. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the <br /> <br />purchase of certain office equipment for the Municipal Court Clerk, said <br /> <br />equipment to cost approximately $500.00~ <br /> <br />A petition, requesting the construction of curb-and-gutter along Woodrow <br /> <br />Street (between Spring and Wilson Streets), on a shared-cost basis, was <br /> <br />filed for consideration during the 1971-72 fiscal year. <br /> <br />In response to Councilman Hartford's inquiry, Revenue Commissioner Hanel <br /> <br />indicated that the results of the current quadrennial reassessment project <br /> <br />should be available on--or soon after--February 1, 1971. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />L~kv,,-, . _,,~~ . <br />W.
