<br />l~G <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 22, 1970 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, <br /> <br />December 22, 1970, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., <br /> <br />all members being present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor Francis <br /> <br />T. West; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held December 8, 1970. <br /> <br />With reference to Council's action of November lO, 1970, wherein and whereby <br /> <br />Council authorized the providing of sewer service for Tan Bark Place Subdivision <br /> <br />(Rives S. Brown, Realtor), the following bids for the construction of sewer <br /> <br />lines to provide this service were received, encompassing the following two <br /> <br />projects: <br /> <br />Division 1 <br /> <br />1,6051 eight-inch line from Mulberry Creek Interceptor to <br />the proposed relocation of Spruce Street Extended, this <br />being the portion for which the City will pay the cost; and <br /> <br />Division 2 <br /> <br />1,160'eight-inch line from the proposed Spruce Street <br />Extended relocation to the subdivision, the cost of which <br />to be borne by the developer. <br /> <br />Bidder <br /> <br />Cost <br /> <br />Division 1 <br /> <br />Division 2 <br /> <br />Prillaman & Pace, Inc. <br />Bryant's Plumbing & Heating <br />Laramore Construction Company <br /> <br />$ l4,530.00 <br />l4,750.00 <br />16,940.00 <br /> <br />$ 8,430.00 <br /> <br />$ 6,100.00 <br /> <br />Council was informed that the developer's cost (of $6,100.00) might be <br /> <br />justifiably reduced to $5,868.25 by substituting six-inch pipe for some <br /> <br />500 feet, to which Council concurred. As to the City's cost and investment, <br /> <br />inasmuch as the City's line can and would serve twenty-seven acres of land <br /> <br />owned by other parties, when such land is developed, Couocil directed (by <br /> <br />motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried) that the per-acre cost (of <br /> <br />$3l2.22) be recovered from the developers of said 27 acres at whatever future <br />
