<br />G~l <br /> <br />TUE SDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 8, 1970 <br /> <br />Upon inquiry by Mayor Renick, it was reported that the leaf-collection <br /> <br />service study (requested by council from its meeting of November 24, 1970) <br /> <br />is in process. <br /> <br />Council unanimously granted permission to Mr. and Mrs. James R. Dye, Jr., <br /> <br />(presently residing at 231 Starling Avenue) to connect to the City's <br /> <br />Woodland Heights Water System their new residence under construction on <br /> <br />Lots Nos. 1 and 2 at the entrance to Woodland Heights (outside the City's <br /> <br />corporate limits), corner of Roundhill Drive and Summitt View Drive, it <br /> <br />being reported that this residence was under construction before and at <br /> <br />the time the City purchased said woodland Heights Water System, with <br /> <br />petitioners having paid to the City in July (1970) the required water <br />connection fee. <br /> <br />Council continued for further consideration a request from the International <br /> <br />Federation of American Homing Pigeon Fanciers, Inc., along with similar <br /> <br />request from Mr. Lewis Blankenship, of Martinsville, Virginia, the latter <br /> <br />being President of the Martinsville Racing Pigeon Club, seeking exemption <br /> <br />from the City's Animal & Fowl Ordinance for the keeping and raising of homing <br /> <br />and racing pigeons within the corporate limits. Meanwhile, Council asked <br /> <br />that a study be made of similar regulations in force in other cities and <br /> <br />that this matter be considered at a future Council meeting, at which time <br /> <br />Mr. Blankenship be invited to attend. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged the presence of Mr. Jesse Harold Wade, Jr., more <br /> <br />familiarly known as "Sonny" Wade, who was an outstanding athlete while at <br /> <br />. ,<,,~_"~.'_"'''M>''~~~_''___'__~'''''"''_'''''''"';_''__'" <br />
