<br />1 ( <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 23, 1970 <br /> <br />With the concurrence of Council, Mayor Renick announced the reappointing of <br /> <br />all present members of the Planning Commission, for four-year terms beginning <br /> <br />July 1, 1970, viz., Messrs. T. J. Childress, Jr.; R. Jack Dandridge; James H. <br /> <br />Ford; Leon Globman; Morton W. Lester; William G. Pannill; and Ben W. Via. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of the Abstract of Votes cast in the general <br /> <br />election (councilmanic) held Tuesday, June 9, 1970, recording the following <br /> <br />and certifying that councilmanic incumbents W. Donald Hartford and Francis T. <br /> <br />West were duly elected to the Council for four-year terms beginning September <br /> <br />1, 1970: <br /> <br />Candidate <br /> <br />Votes Received <br /> <br />W. Amburn <br /> <br />2,543 <br />2,345 <br />1,667 <br />355 <br /> <br />Council received--and referred to the Planning Commission for its consideration <br /> <br />and recommendation--a petition from Nationwide Homes, Inc. requesting the rezoning <br /> <br />of petitioner's property between its industrial site along Rives Road Extended, <br /> <br />between the Norfolk & Western Railway and Forest Street Extension, leaving Lots <br /> <br />Numbers 44 through 54 for residential use and a buffer zone adjacent to the <br /> <br />industrial land. This petition appeared to be a reactivation, in part, of <br /> <br />similar petition filed April 22, 1969 and subsequently "tabledll June 10, 1969 <br /> <br />at request of petitioner. <br />
