<br />J-l <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 23, 1970 <br /> <br />be in violation of the City's regulations in the same manner as now exists <br /> <br />by its emergency arrangement with the Daniel Creek Water Company; whereupon <br /> <br />motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, and with the expressed hope <br /> <br />that the County of Henry and its Public Service Authority would not <br /> <br />interpret Council's action as an indication of Council's lacking in every <br /> <br />willingness and intent to cooperate with the County jurisdictions and <br /> <br />officials, Council unanimously directed the exercising of said purchase <br /> <br />option. <br /> <br />Upon being informed that construction of an access road is necessary to the <br /> <br />site of the proposed new plant of American Standard Homes Corporation, to be <br /> <br />located on the "J. L. Becknerll property on or near Stultz Road, which property <br /> <br />was rezoned for this purpose on May 26, 1970, and upon being informed also <br /> <br />that State Industrial Access funds may be available for said road and that <br /> <br />the Henry County Board of Supervisors (by resolution) has recommended that <br /> <br />said road be constructed from such funds, Council adopted the following <br /> <br />resolution similar and parallel to the Supervisor's resolution: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under date of February 24, 1970, in conjunction with a request <br />that the IIJ. L. Beckner Propertyll--located south of Stultz Road and <br />adjoining the Roy Stone Trucking complex--be rezoned, Mr. Michael B. <br />Eanes, President of American Standard Homes Corporation, informed the <br />Council of the City of Martinsville of his firm's plans to construct <br />a new plant on said property for the purpose of manufacturing IIpackaged" <br />homes and components, which plant will represent an investment of <br />approvimately $530,000.00 and will employ some eighty-five persons; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary to the operation of said plant that an access <br />road be constructed, extending from Stultz Road (Route 667) in Henry <br />County to the North Corporate Limits of Martinsville, and then within <br />said Corporate Limits to the plant-site property line, a distance of <br />approximately 0.32 mile; and <br />
