8

TUESDAY

MAY 26, 1970

..-

Council ,continued for further consideration a purchase option extended the

City by the Daniel Creek Water Company, which option has been extended by

said Company to June 15, 1970 and whereby said Company's Woodland Heights

area water system has been offered to the City for the sum of $30,000.00.

In view of the reported interest of the Henry County Public Service

Authority in acquiring this water system, Council deferred action until

its next regular meeting (June 9th); meanwhile, Council instructed City

Manager Noland to confer with Mr. Robert Grant, of the Authority, to

ascertain the intent of said Authority toward acquiring this system and,

also, to urge the Authority to inform the Council of the Authority's

interest and intent on the proposed contract or agreement regarding the

proposed receiving and treating by the City of sewage from the Villa

Heights area.

Inasmuch as information is incomplete at this time as to certain important

aspects relating to the City's future needs and usage of a portion of the

"Hedgecock" tract of land--originally purchased by the City as a site for

a sewage treatment plant--and for which tract the City has an offer to

exchange for other land(s), Council carried this matter forward, pending

presentation of complete information thereon. Council, also, discussed the

increasing needs for water service in peripheral areas around the City,

particularly that area along Route 220 South, around and beyond the City's

Industrial Park, as well as ways and means by which these areas might be

served, i.e., by the Henry County Public Service Authority or by the

City or by a joint effort.
