After <br /> <br />further discussion, representatives of J. R. S. Enterprises as well as a <br /> <br />representative of Lester Lumber Company, requested the rezoning of properties <br /> <br />delineated by a map to "C-l". Contingent upon these requests being filed in <br /> <br />writing, Council called for a joint public hearing by Council and the <br /> <br />Commission to be conducted on these requests--including tre application of <br /> <br />J. R. S. Enterprises for a special-use permit--to be conducted at Council's <br /> <br />forthcoming March 10th meeting. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on the petition filed October 23, 1969 by Sale Knitting Company, requesting <br /> <br />the rezoning to "M-2" of its properties consisting of the former Martinsville <br /> <br />City School Board property on Dillard Street and an adjoining lot immediately <br /> <br />north of said former school property. This request having been approved by <br /> <br />the Planning Cbmmission, and there being no objections thereto registered by <br /> <br />anyone, Council granted said request by adopting the following ordinance <br /> <br />amending the City's Zoning Ordinance and Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED'by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this tenth day of February, 1970, that <br />the Zoning Ordinance and the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville <br />be--and are hereby--amended to reclassify to "M-2 Industrial" that <br />property owned by Sale Knitting Company, Inc., located on Dillard Street <br />(near its southern intersection with Franklin Street) and consisting of <br />the property formerly owned by Martinsville City School Board and last <br />occupied by Patrick Henry College and, also, a lot immediately north of <br />and adjacent to said former Martinsville City School Board property. <br /> <br />..,-_._-~'----"_...'""._,.,-_.._~~,_.~----_._-~ <br />
