r
f

TUESDAY

JANUARY 13, 1970

,,--

Council unanimously accepted--and with appreciation--deeds from Mr. & Mrs.

George T. Morris and Mr. & Mrs. James T. Allen, to permit a cul-de-sac at

the end of Sellers Street. Similarly, Council accepted a deed from Mr.

Richard Wray, involving right-of-way at Pony Place (formerly "Middle Street")

and Roundabout Road.

.-

In connection with the request filed with Council on September 9, 1969, that

First Street be opened and improved between "B" Street and 180 feet south of

"c" Street, Public Works Director George W. Brown informed Council that to do

so would incur a cost of $34,000.00 for which the benefits would not be

commensurate, in addition to the lack of funds for this project. Accordingly,

Mr. Brown recommended the indefinite postponing of such construction, with

possible future consideration pending the availability of funds.

City Manager Noland gave a brief status report on the interest of an unidentified

industrial firm in a plant site.

City Attorney Cubine informed Council of the status of the City's condemnation

proceedings (authorized October 14, 1969) against Wray Park for a sewer line

-

right-of-way and/or easement.

Council acknowledged the presence of several Boy Scouts, visiting the meeting

in meeting requirements for certain merit badges.

-

Council was adjourned.

w.
