MacBryde, Jr., Attorney <br /> <br />at Law, who distinguished himself in the service of the City for many <br /> <br />years as Judge of Martinsville Trial Justice Court and Martinsville <br /> <br />Municipal Court. <br /> <br />Mr. Mack Evans appeared before Council and requested sewer service for his <br /> <br />property at 1034-1036 Barrows Mill Road, a shor"t distance outside the City's <br /> <br />corporate limits. Dr. C. J. Mathes, Director of the local Health Department, <br /> <br />along with Public Works Director George W. Brown, reviewed for Council <br /> <br />certain circumstances attached to Mr. Evans' need and plight, with Mr. Brown <br /> <br />outlining the difficulty of readily serving this property. Council suggested <br /> <br />that Mr. Brown investigate this matter further and report back to Council <br /> <br />thereon. <br /> <br />Dr. C. J. Mathes, Director of the local Health Department, presented to the <br /> <br />City a Commonwealth of Virginia check in the amount of $979.60, representing <br /> <br />a refund of the City's share of the cost of a unfilled position budgeted for <br /> <br />the fiscal year ended June 30, 1969. Dr. Mathes then requested--and Council <br /> <br />so indicated approval--permission to employ an additional clerk for the <br /> <br />Health Department, with the City's cost to be $459.72 during the current <br /> <br />year, to assist with the added office work caused by increased Federal <br /> <br />health programs. <br /> <br />Dr. Mathes called Council's attention to the possible need of considering <br /> <br />a minimal hOUSing code for the City, preferably the Southern Housing <br />
