<br />26 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 9, 1974 <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Following the adoption of this motion to establish City Council as the Redevelopment <br /> <br />Authority, Mayor West noted that this is a milestone in the history of the City and noted <br /> <br />that the action taken is a forerunner to the development of a broader tax base for <br /> <br />the City, and other significant advantages. Mr. G. S. Fitz-hugh appeared before <br /> <br />Council and endorsed the present action as being apropos, but expressed the view <br /> <br />that in the future the time consuming nature of a Redevelopment Authority's work <br /> <br />~- <br /> <br />would probably warrant Council's consideration of naming an independent body to <br /> <br />serve as the authority. <br /> <br />Upon being advised that the City School Board wishes to meet jointly with City Council, <br /> <br />for presentation of the proposed budget of the school board, motion was made, seconded, <br /> <br />and carried unanimously that Council recess until noon on Thursday, April ll. <br /> <br />~ A/J (77 Q <br />,,;/ j'j / / Jt[ 1I~~1- " <br />T.
