To combine the present first and sixth precincts into a new
number one precinct to vote at Albert Harris School with a
total of approximately 2,111 registered voters.

2. To combine the present second and fourth precincts into a
new number two precinct to vote at the school shop building
on Brown Street, with approximately 2,l75 registered voters.

3. To combine the present third and ninth precincts into a new
number three precinct to vote at Southside Fire Station with
a total of approximately l,237 registered voters.

4. To combine the present seventh and tenth precincts into a
new number four precinct to vote at Martinsville High School
with a total of approximately l,694 registered voters.

5. To combine the present fifth and eighth precincts into a new
number five precinct to vote at the Druid Hills School with
a total of approximately 2,204 registered voters.

At your meeting on February 12, when this is discussed, we will have a map
showing the boundaries and voting places.

It is further requested that you increase the compensation of election
officials from twenty-five to thirty dollars per day. These people are
on duty from approximately five thirty in the morning until after seven at
night; more than fourteen hours per day. They are also asked to attend
training meeting without pay. We are fortunate in having some very fine
dedicated people who serve as election officials and a little more
compensation would be some recognition to them. The pay is fixed at
twenty dollars by the state with the provision that the local governing
body may increase this compensation.
