<br />~...f F~ <br />,J u <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 22, 1974 <br /> <br />number of the license and which shall be attached to the vehicle for which the tax <br />was levied and collected, as follows: <br /> <br />On each licensed motorcycle, trailer, or vehicle of like design, the license <br />decal shall be placed and displayed in a manner similar to and adjacent to <br />the Virginia State Inspection sticker; and, on each of all other licensed <br />vehicles the license decal shall be displayed on and attached to the inside <br />of each such vehicle's windshield, immediately adjacent to the Virginia <br />State Inspection sticker, so as to be in plain view in the manner required <br />for said State Inspection stickers. <br /> <br />Records: The City Treasurer or his authorized agent shall prepare and maintain, <br />on forms prescribed by the City's Director of Finance, a record of each license <br />decal sticker issued, which record shall show the number of such decal sticker, the <br />person or firm to whom or to which it was issued, the address of such person or <br />firm, and the make and model of the vehicle for which such license decal sticker is <br />issued. <br /> <br />Lost or Mutilated Decals: In the event that any City Motor Vehicle License decal, <br />issued under provisions of this ordinance, shall be lost or mutilated, or shall <br />have become illegible, the person who is entitled thereto shall make immediate <br />application for and obtain a duplicate or substitute therefor upon furnishing <br />information of such fact satisfactory to the issuing office, and upon payment of <br />one dollar ($1.00). <br /> <br />License Transfers: It shall be unlawful for any person or firm, to whom or to <br />which a City of Martinsville motor vehicle license decal has been duly issued, to <br />give, loan, rent, sell, assign, or transfer such decal to another person or firm <br />or to permit otherwise another person or firm to use in any manner such license <br />decal; however, in the event the owner of a motor vehicle, for which a license <br />decal has been duly issued, trades such vehicle for another vehicle for which a <br />license decal is required, the City Treasurer or his authorized agent is hereby <br />authorized to issue a new decal, for the sum of one dollar ($1.00), upon presentation <br />by the licensee of all or a clearly identifiable portion of the original decal. <br /> <br />Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor <br />and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished as herein provided. Any owner of a <br />motor vehicle, trailer or semi-trailer for which a license tax is required under <br />this ordinance, who fails to display the license decal as required herein, shall be <br />guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine <br />not exceeding twenty dollars ($20.00). <br /> <br />Any ordinance of the City of Martinsville heretofore passed which is in conflict <br />with this ordinance is hereby repealed. <br /> <br />An emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force on March 1, 1974. <br /> <br />Council gave consideration to a written request that Council authorize extension of City <br /> <br />water and sewer lines along Chatham Road (State Route 57 East) to a point approximately 800 <br /> <br />feet out of the corporate limits. On motion made, seconded and carried unanimously, the <br /> <br />East Gate Development Corporation's petition was referred to the Planning Commission for a <br /> <br />report and recommendation. <br />
