<br />1.8 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 27, 1973 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor Francis T. West presiding, was held Tuesday, November 27, <br /> <br />1973, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P. M., all members--with <br /> <br />the exception of Councilman Harry L. Boaz, Vice Mayor, who was out of town--being <br /> <br />present, viz., Francis T. West, Mayor; W. Donald Hartford; William D. Hobson; and <br /> <br />Morton W. Lester. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held November 13, 1973. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised notice, Council conducted a public hearing on petition <br /> <br />filed August 14, 1973, by Mr. John J. Hartley, Attorney at Law and Counsel for <br /> <br />Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, requesting the rezoning to "P-2 Professional" <br /> <br />of property located at 503 East Church Street and presently occupied by said <br /> <br />Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. There being no objections registered by <br /> <br />anyone to the requested rezoning and in acceptance of the Planning Commission's <br /> <br />recommendation that request be granted, Council effected said requested rezoning by <br /> <br />its unanimous adoption of the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code <br /> <br />and Zoning Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-seventh day of November, <br />1973, that the City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map be--and are hereby-- <br />amended so as to effect a "P-2 Professional" zoning of that property <br />located at 503 East Church Street and further identified as presently <br />being occupied by Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. <br /> <br />Contingent upon judicial permission being granted the Henry County Board of <br /> <br />Supervisors to sell to the City that property identified as the "Old City Shop" <br /> <br />off Jones Street, pursuant to said Supervisors' offer to sell and the Council's <br /> <br />acceptance thereof at Council's November 13th meeting, Council agreed to lease--and <br /> <br />authorized execution of lease agreement therefor--to the County of Henry that certain <br />
