<br />1 ~1 <br />, <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 30, 1973 <br /> <br />_. <br />" <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor Francis T. West presiding, was held Tuesday, October 30, 1973, <br /> <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 10:00 A. M., all members <br /> <br />being present, viz., Francis T. West, Mayor; Harry L. Boaz, Vice Mayor; <br /> <br />W. Donald Hartford; William D. Hobson; and Morton W. Lester. <br /> <br />.-- <br /> <br />Prior to the stating of the purpose for which this meeting was called and the <br /> <br />consideration of same, by unanimous consent of the Council and subject to <br /> <br />confirmation thereof at its next regular meeting, Council agreed to consider <br /> <br />the filling of a vacancy on the Economic Development Committee of the West <br /> <br />Piedmont Planning District Commission. Upon recommendation of the City's <br /> <br />members of said Commission, Council unanimously appointed Mr. Franklin P. Early <br /> <br />(Vice President of Virginia National Bank, Martinsville) to membership on <br /> <br />said Committee, subject to ratification and such other official action required <br /> <br />of the Council at its next regular meeting. <br /> <br />Pursuant to reference from Council's regular meeting held October 23, 1973 <br /> <br />and, also, to complying notice of this special meeting herein covered by these <br /> <br />minutes, Council convened said special meeting for the purpose of receiving and <br /> <br />considering a staff report on matters pertaining to the Henry County Public <br /> <br />Service Authority's request (filed March 13, 1973) for an extension and/or <br /> <br />enlargment of its contract with the City (executed April 27, 1971) to provide <br /> <br />sewer service to a portion of the Beaver Creek Watershed area and, also, on the <br /> <br />Authority's recent inquiry as to the possible sale to the PSA of the City's water <br /> <br />system within the City's Industrial Park. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and <br />
