West presiding, was held Tuesday, October 9, 1973,

in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P. M., all members--with

the exception of Councilman W. D. Hartford, who was out of town because of the death

of Mrs. Hartford's brother--being present, viz., Francis T. West, Mayor;

Harry L. Boaz, Vice Mayor; William D. Hobson; and Morton W. Lester.

After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular

meeting held September 25, 1973.

Council concurred in the report of the Planning Commission, advising that the

Commission--pending the possible establishment by Council of a new policy with

regard to sewer extensions into Henry County--has "tabled" the petition filed

with Council (under date of August 14, 1973) by Lester Lumber Company, Inc.,

requesting City sewer service for petitioner's several properties at Koehler,

Virginia, outside the City's corporate limits.

In tentative acceptance of the Planning Commission's recommendation and

report dated October 5, 1973, Council called for a duly-advertised public

hearing to be conducted by Council at its forthcoming November 27th regular

meeting on a petition (filed August 14, 1973, by Mr. John J. Hartley, Attorney

at Law) requesting the rezoning to "P-2 Professional" of that property at

503 E. Church Street, also identified as Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

In connection with the offer of the Henry County Board of Supervisors,

received at Council's meeting held September 25; 1973, to lease to the City

----~----~_._---,_.,.._, --,-- --"-'-', .----
