Council referred this matter <br /> <br />to City Attorney Worthy for study and opinion. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Under date of August 10, 1973, the Planning Commission informed Council that, at <br /> <br />request of Logan Gray, Inc., petitioner, the Commission has "tabled" the "P-2" <br /> <br />rezoning petition for petitioner's property at 100 Starling Avenue, which petition <br /> <br />was received by Council at its meeting of June 12, 1973 and was then referred to the <br /> <br />Planning Commission. <br /> <br />the following matters: <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and recommendations, <br /> <br />(1) a petition, filed by Mr. John J. Hartley, Attorney at Law, requesting a <br />"P-2 Professional" zoning classification for that property identified <br />as 503 East Church Street and presently occupied by Kingdom Hall of <br />Jehovah's Witnesses; <br />(2) Lester Lumber Company's request for sewer service for petitioner's <br />several properties located at Koehler, Virginia, outside the City's <br />corporate limits; and, <br />(3) a request, filed by Mr. J. Haywood Alcorn, for permission to extend <br />a City water main to serve his property located on Mt. Olivet Road <br />(Highway 777), outside the City's corporate limits. <br /> <br />Council referred to City Attorney Worthy, for legal study, a petition filed by residents <br /> <br />of Dundee Lane, requesting Council's assistance toward requiring Martinsville Cablevision <br /> <br />to make CATV service available to said residents. <br /> <br />Having conducted (on August 13, 1973) its annual tour of streets and having reviewed <br /> <br />petitions filed for curb-and-gutter and/or sidewalk, and upon recommendation of <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager-Public Works Director George W. Brown, Council selected--for <br /> <br />construction during the current fiscal year--two sidewalk projects (unrelated to school <br /> <br />areas) consisting of total of 850 lineal feet, three sidewalk projects (near local <br /> <br />"'-'-----_._-,.._-_.,,_." <br /> <br />.. -.- ---- '-----_._-'"-_._--..,-_._---,-,.,-- <br />
