t .,
, ,
~:!"_:

TUESDAY

JULY 10, 1973

carried, Council directed that a duly-advertised public hearing be conducted on this

proposed plan at a special meeting--called for this purpose--to be held Tuesday,

August 7, 1973, in the Corporation Courtroom, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M.

In unanimously accepting a special report of the Special Committee on Traffic &

Parking (Vice-Mayor Harry L. Boaz, Chairman), Council authorized the purchase of

the C. Buren Ross property located at 514 E. Church Street to enable the City to

realign East Church Street in front of this property and thereby eliminate much

of the hazard and the dangerous curve in the street at this location. Vice-Mayor

Boaz reported that possibilities of selling the residue of this property are good

whereby the City might recover a substantial portion of the cost of this property.

Councilman Hartford, as Chairman of the Highway Safety Commission, endorsed this

proposal.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council directed that a special

meeting of the Council be conducted Friday, July 13, 1973, in the Council Chamber,

beginning at 1:30 P.M., for the purpose of further considering a request for

City sewer service for an area or areas off Figsboro Road, outside the City's

corporate limits. Meanwhile, Council unanimously directed that an Executive Session

of the Council be conducted at the conclusion of the regular meeting herein covered

by these minutes to consider this request and the contractual aspects thereof.

Upon recommendation of City Manager Noland, Council authorized the purchase of office

furniture required by the City's Voting Registrar and by a member of the Juvenile

& Domestic Relations Court Staff, at a total estimated cost of $1,400.00.
