i

TUESDAY

APRIL 24, 1973

along Barrows Mill Road, from Clearview Drive to existing curb-and-gutter at

the Clearview School access road, for which right-of-way is being donated to

the City.

A special committee, considering a request for construction of additional

tennis courts, reported that--after much study of locations and available

sites and taking into account that tennis court construction and usage favors

the battery concept--it now recommends the construction of six new courts

near or adjacent to existing courts near Martinsville High School, proposing

that two such courts (estnnated to cost between $16,000.00 and $17,000.00)

be constructed during the 1973-1974 budget year and the other four courts

during the succeeding two budget years; whereupon, Council indicated that

consideration would be given this recommendation during the preparation of

the City's 1973-1974 budget. Toms in order to realign right-of-way in front of Dr. Toms' property at

920 Mulberry Road and to enable Dr. Toms to construct a retaining wall in

front of his property parallel to the realigned right-of-way.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council convened into an

Executive Session to receive status reports involving both the City's Electric
