r\ ")
It {,
. "'.,..-'1

TUESDAY

APRII. 24. 1973

execute the said Contract and Assurances in the name and on behalf
of the Applicant, in as many counterparts as may be necessary, and
the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to affix
or impress the official seal of the Applicant thereon and to attest
the same. The proper officer is directed to forward the said executed
counterparts of the said Contract and Assurances to the Government,
together with such other documents evidencing the approval and
authorization to execute the same as may be required by the
Government.

Vice-Mayor Boaz, as Chairman of Council's special committee on Traffic and

Parking, filed with Council a written report in which was reviewed the efforts

and petition from residents on Southside to obtain from the City's Police

Department a replacement for the retired police officer who assisted a City

patrolmother in directing traffic and safeguarding school children attending

Joseph Martin School, when going to and from that school, at the Starling

Avenue-Memorial Boulevard intersection. The Committee recommended that,

beginning with the next forthcoming school year, the City provide an additional

Patrolmother at that intersection, meanwhile reporting that Police Chief Frank

A. Gard has agreed to station a uniformed policeman to assist at this intersection

for the remainder of the current school year. Council unanimously accepted the

Committee's report and recommendations, with Councilman Hartford--though in

accord with the solution to the problem--expressing his opinion that matters

such as this should be handled administratively.

Upon petition of Mr. M. Harrison Joyce, Attorney at Law and Counsel for the

Henry County Fair & Exposition, Council unanimously extended--for the Fair &

Exposition to be held September 3rd through September 8th, 1973--the Special-Use

Permit granted March 23, 1971 for the five-year period 1971 through 1975.
