49

TUESDAY

DECEMBER 12, 1972

,,-

In looking ahead to the fact that the next regularly scheduled meeting of Council

would fall on December 26, Council decided not to meet on that date, but that

should the press of business indicate the need of another meeting in December,

the Mayor would call such a meeting.

The City Manager reported that on the day before the meeting the City had received

the first check from the Federal Government, in the amount of $157,412.00, under

the terms of the "State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act", an Act commonly known

as the "Federal Revenue Sharing Law." D. Powell, that the City permit him

to connect to City water and sewer lines which are in a street fronting his

property located on Rivermont Court, just outside the croporate limits adjacent to

Rivermont Heights, Council expressed its willingness to permit the connection, under

the stipulation that the applicant abide by zoning covenants as established by the

City Planning Commission, and subject to the City's standard contract provisions

governing such utility extensions.

of Martinsville

Mr. Nathan Bushnell, Executive Director of Memorial Hospital/and Henry County,

appeared before Council and presented a written request that the City allocate

~
