"~ 'It

-" ~ .;}~

TUESDAY

NOVEMBER 14, 1972

Department that City Council grant a Special-Use Permit which would allow

construction of a substation on Indian Trail between the properties of Clyde

T. Mallision, at 1019 Indian Trail, and CarlO. Rainey, at 1023 Indian Trail.

Upon being advised that Mrs. H. Irvine Tuggle had approached the City to

determine if the City would like to act as permanent repository for a valuable

piece of furniture, an unusual desk which had been used in the Martinsville

Post Office for many years, prior to the turn of the century, Council unanirnously

agreed to accept the kind offer of Mrs. Tuggle and her family, with grateful

appreciation, and with the understanding that the piece of antique furniture

would be displayed in the City Hall lobby, or similar suitable location, so long

as such display is deemed to be appropriate, and with the special proviso that

should Mrs. Tuggle or those whom she may designate should desire at any time to

reclaim the desk, the right so to do would exist.

Several citizens addressed Council on the problem of barking dogs, dogs running

at large and the companion problem of there being too many dogs under the owner-

ship of a given person or family, in some locations. The concerned citizens were

requested to contact the City Attorney to get an explanation of the existing

ordinance as to the regulation of dogs, with the idea that the City Attorney may

wish to suggest revision of the ordinance.

'"

The City Manager was asked to investigate the situation involving comments from

citizens that some of the offices in City Hall are closed during the lunch hour

to the inconvenience of citizens who may need to conduct business at City Hall

during these periods.
