<br />" j . <br />:IU <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 14, 1972 <br /> <br />Fayette Street and the west boundary line of Middle Street and being <br />approximately 35 feet in width, petitioner owning lots 14 and 15 which bound <br />either side of the portion of the street petitioned to be closed, identified <br />as a Plat of Survey prepared by Whitmell C. Brown under the date of <br />November 11, 1972, be and is hereby vacated, closed and abandoned, being <br />further identified as a parcel consisting of . 15 parts of an acre to be <br />quitclaimed to said Ralph C. Lester, by the City of Martinsville; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that a copy of this ordinance be <br />forthwith filed with the Clerk of Martinsville Corporation Court as <br />directive and authorization to mark his records accordingly. <br /> <br />Council conducted a duly-advertised public hearing on Lester Lumber Company's <br /> <br />petition containing two requests: <br /> <br />1. That the block between Franklin Street, Liberty Street and the Liberty <br /> <br />Street Extension be rezoned from its present M-l Industrial classification <br /> <br />to an M-2 Industrical classification. <br /> <br />No citizen spoke in favor of or in opposition to the proposed rezoning, and noting <br /> <br />that the City Planning Commission had recommended approval, motion was made, <br /> <br />duly seconded and carried, that the recommendation of the Planning Commission <br /> <br />be accepted. <br /> <br />2. That the tract of land lying west of Lester Lumber Company's Jones <br /> <br />Creek plant bounded by a line 800 feet north of the north line of <br /> <br />Commonwealth Boulevard to the west corporate limits of the City, the <br /> <br />C&NW Railroad and the west line of the M-2 zone on the west of their <br /> <br />present plant on Liberty Street, be rezoned from an R-6 Residential <br /> <br />to an M-2 Industrial classification. <br /> <br />No citizen spoke in favor of or in opposition to this proposed rezoning, and <br /> <br />noting that the City Planning Commission had recommended approval of this petition <br /> <br />for rezoning, on motion made, seconded and duly carried, Council voted to accept <br /> <br />the recommendations of the Planning Commission, by ordinance, as follows: <br />
