<br />;';6 <br />-~ . i <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 27, 1977 <br /> <br />.-...- <br /> <br />with Federal standards which became effective July 1, 1977; however, Council was informed that, <br /> <br />in lieu of the City's inability to meet the conditions necessary to the renewal of said permit, <br /> <br />the State Water Control Board will allow the City to cohtinue its present operations and <br /> <br />practices in this regard until April 1, 1978, upon the condition that the City and its sewage <br /> <br />disposal plant will comply with said Federal standards on or before that date, such allowance <br /> <br />and condition to be made a part of an order-and-consent decree. Upon motion, duly seconded and <br /> <br />..- <br /> <br />unanimously carried, Council accepted said condition and decree. <br /> <br />To parallel the date recently re-established by both the State and Federal Governments for the <br /> <br />observance of Veteran's Day, viz., reverting to the original November 11th observance, Council <br /> <br />directed that the City's observance of Veteran's Day will be each November 11th. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council re-appointed Messrs. Thomas J. <br /> <br />Burch and Joseph W. Pritchett to membership on the City's Industrial Development Authority for <br /> <br />four-year terms beginning September 26, 1977. <br /> <br />A local member of the Muslim sect, representing W. D. Mohammed, presented a prepared statement <br /> <br />citing the need for more and immediate attention to the moral state of the City's inhabitants, <br /> <br />meanwhile proposing that the City (1) enact and enforce a curfew law, (2) provide a more <br /> <br />,,- <br /> <br />stringent enforcement of drug control laws, and (3) ban the use of alcoholic beverages in other <br /> <br />than private properties. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />l'~~S~^~ <br />W.
