Hobson presiding, was held Tuesday, September 27, 1977, in the Council

Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., William D.

Hobson, Mayor; William C. Oakes; and Francis T.

West.

~-

After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held

September 14, 1977.

Mayor Hobson commended the Police Department on its recent intensive surveillance of certain

areas of the City and the success thereof in curtailing the upsurge of house break-ins and

robberies in those areas.

.--.

Council acknowledged receipt of a report from the Planning Commission, in which report the

Commission informed Council that it will conduct a public hearing on October 20, 1977, on the

petition received by Council on September 14, 1977, submitted by Bennett & Wilson, Realtors, on

behalf of Mrs. J. W. Booker, requesting the rezoning of the Booker property at 212 Starling

Avenue (from "R-6" to lIP_2") and, further, that the Commission will make its recommendation

thereon at Council's forthcoming October 25th meeting, thus enabling Council to advertise its

public hearing thereon for the October 25th meeting, that the petition might be "processed"

with expendiency, as requested by petitioner, which advertising Council duly authorized.

Also, in connection with a report from the Planning Commission, Council called for a duly-

advertised public hearing to be conducted by Council at its forthcoming October 25th meeting

on the request filed with Council on September 14th by Wells & Donavant Construction Company,
