Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously

carried, Council approved said School Board's 1977-78 budget request.

Upon recommendation of the City's administrative staff, Council unanimously adopted

a proposed swimming pool ordinance, as considered on third reading at Council's meeting

held April 26, 1977, and as most recently revised, which adopted ordinance amends a

portion of Chapter 9, Article I, of the City's Code, with the stipulation that pools

with existing conditions requiring alterations and/or new equipment, in order to comply

with the terms of this ordinance, will be granted a six-months' "waiver" period to

comply therewith. A copy of said ordinance is herewith included in these minutes by

insert.

At the request of the City's Electoral Board, and subject to concurrence by the

appropriate Federal agency, Council authorized the City Registrar's office to be open--in

addition to its regular office hours--to the public, for registration purposes, during

the hours of 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on May lO, 1977 and on May l3, 1977 and, also,

from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, May l4, 1977, noting that a local primary

election will be held June l4, 1977.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council granted the request (by

letter dated May 2, 1977) of Ray D. Frith & Partners, seeking additional water service

for domestic use and fire protection for a warehouse facility, between Smith River and

the City's Industrial Park, which applicant proposes to expand for a local industry. In

connection therewith, Mr. J. Burness Frith, a partner in applicant's firm, noting that

land for industrial development in the area is becoming scarce, urged Council to make

the maximum usage of the remaining City-owned property within the Industrial Park.
