<br />34 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 22, 1977 <br /> <br />Council accepted and acknowledged with appreciation a donation of $2,888.00 from <br /> <br />the Martinsville Community Recreation Association designated to be used for the <br /> <br />Senior Citizens Center with the understanding that this donation would generate an <br /> <br />additional $8,644.00 in Federal funds to be used to purchase equipment to make <br /> <br />the Center (building) usable after the current renovation program is completed. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the filing <br /> <br />of an application for such additional Federal funds. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />;: <br /> <br />Council also recognized the Martinsville Community Recreation Association for <br /> <br />its contribution, by its payment to a local electrical contractor, of $9,500.00 <br /> <br />to pay for the cost of installing a new lighting system at English Field, <br /> <br />$2,500.00 of this amount having been contributed by the Martinsville-Henry County <br /> <br />Oil Dealers Association. <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />In tentative acceptance of recommendations submitted by the City's Planning <br /> <br />Commission with its report dated February l8, 1977, Council called for a <br /> <br />duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted by Council at its forthcoming <br /> <br />March 22nd meeting on a proposal to amend certain portions of Sections II, <br /> <br />IV, and V of the City's Zoning Ordinance to provide and/or revise regulations <br /> <br />therein pertaining to outside storage of materials (etc.) and the screening <br /> <br />thereof in both the City's "C-3" and "M-l" zoning districts. <br /> <br />After considering on second reading, as advanced from Council's February 8th <br /> <br />meeting, an ordinance entitled, "AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE LEVY AND <br /> <br />-- <br />
