<br />33 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 8, 1977 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized City <br /> <br />Manager Noland to execute, on behalf of the City, a contract with the Sheriff <br /> <br />of the City of Danvi11e for the boarding and lodging of Martinsvi11e's female <br /> <br />prisoners (from the custody of Martinsvi11e's City Sheriff and Jail) in the <br /> <br />Danvi11e City Jail, at a per diem rate of $6.00 per prisoner, replacing a <br /> <br />contract which provided a rate of $3.00 per prisoner per day. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Council placed on first reading, for advance to second reading and adoption <br /> <br />at its forthcoming February 22nd meeting, an ordinance providing for the <br /> <br />levying and collecting of a license tax from owners of motor vehicles (etc.) <br /> <br />within the City for the license tax year beginning March 1, 1977. <br /> <br />Councilman Oakes called Council's attention to the current annual observance <br /> <br />of "Crime Prevention \oeek" and, in so doing, commended the City's law <br /> <br />enforcement personnel for their dedication and accomplishments. <br /> <br />Mr. Harold P. Williams, Jr., appeared before Council and expressed his <br /> <br />appreciation to the City's Public Works Department's personnel for their <br /> <br />successful and prompt efforts in removing snow-and-ice from City streets <br /> <br />during the recent heavy snowfall and severe winter conditions. Mr. Williams <br /> <br />also expressed appreciation of the service rendered the public by the Council. <br /> <br />By a recorded and unanimous vote, Council convened into Executive Session <br /> <br />for the purposes of (1) considering a tentative proposal that the City <br /> <br />establish selling prices on one or more parcels of City-owned property within <br /> <br />the City's Industrial Park for an industrial prospect and (2) considering a <br />
