~18

THURSDAY

DECEMBER 30, 1976

City Manager Noland, outlining the development of the City's formal

personnel classification-and-pay plan from its inception in 1969 and

with its subsequent revisions, pointed out the current need of limited

assistance by a personnel consultant toward reviewing and/or revising

job descriptions and conducting a comparative wage survey as a basis

for revising various pay grades and ranges. At the City Manager's

request, Council appropriated (from the City's General Fund's

Emergency Account) the sum of $3,000.00 for this purpose, said action

being by a recorded and unanimous vote.

Mayor Hobson announced that, in light of the recent resignation of

Mrs. Virginia Hall as a member of the City's Planning Commission, he

is appointing Mrs. Toy Lacy Critz to fill Mrs. Hall's unexpired term

on said Commission.

Council noted with appreciation the favorable reports submitted by the

State on its recent inspections of both the City Jail and the City

Prison Farm, with Council commending those personnel responsible for

the proper operation of these two important facilities.

Council was adjourned.

Thomas B.
