<br />29 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 23, 1976 <br /> <br />c- <br /> <br />After reviewing bids recently received from various contractors for the <br /> <br />installation of water and sewer lines required in connection with the <br /> <br />proposed Brookdale Road reconstruction project, Council unanimously accepted <br /> <br />the lowest bid received, being that of J. E. Scearce & Son, Inc., of Danville, <br /> <br />Virginia, a subsidiary of Thompson-Arthur Paving Company, in the amount of <br /> <br />$l26,109.42. <br /> <br />In connection with an aerial mapping project to provide the City with <br /> <br />updated contour and topographic maps, recently authorized by Council, <br /> <br />Council unanimously authorized the executing (by City Manager Noland) of <br /> <br />a contract with Photogrammetric Services, Inc., in the amount of $31,195.00, <br /> <br />for which some funds have been previously encumbered and/or budgeted and for <br /> <br />has <br />which an additional appropriation of $10,000.00 Council/authorized to be <br /> <br />included in the City's 1977-78 budget. Council also unanimously authorized <br /> <br />the executing of a contract with Wiley & Wilson, Consulting Engineers, who are <br /> <br />involved in this project with the Federal Government, whereby provisions and/or <br /> <br />conditions in said contract will insure a refund or credit to the City for the <br /> <br />value of "usable" services resulting from the contract work to be performed <br /> <br />for the City by Photogrammetric Services, Inc. <br /> <br />Council continued for study, and consideration at its forthcoming December <br /> <br />14th meeting, a proposal that the City apply for a Federal grant of 90% of the <br /> <br />cost of purchasing a 12-passenger van or bus for the use of local senior <br /> <br />citizens. Preceding this action, various comments were offered and various <br /> <br />questions were raised by both members of Council and citizens present, <br />
