r:,\ t..l''-:'~
~ Iv ':X

TUESDAY

OCTOBER 12, 1976

public hearing on an Application for a Special-Use Permit, as filed by

the Martinsvi11e Volunteer Fire Company on August 10, 1976, seeking

permission to conduct applicant's Firemen's Bazaars at Brown Street

Field one week of each of the years 1977 through 1981. In acceptance of

the Planning Commission's recommendation of approval, Council issued said

permit for the years requested, subject to the conditions that (1)

closing hours will be not later than twelve midnight, (2) no gambling

will be allowed, and (3) no "girlie" shows will be allowed.

In tentative acceptance of a Planning Commission report, Council called

for a duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted by Council at its

forthcoming November 9th meeting for the consideration of a proposed

Flood Plain Ordinance and of proposed Subdivision Ordinance amendments

relating to the proposed Flood Plain Ordinance.

Council continued for further consideration, awaiting preparation of

necessary documents (resolution and ordinance), a proposal presented by

Mr. D. B. Hanel, Commissioner of the Revenue, which--if approved--would

authorize for 1977 an annual reassessment of locally taxable real estate

and, beginning with 1978, a biennial reassessment of such property,

pursuant to applicable provisions of the State Code.

Council also continued for further consideration a proposal by which the

City's Welfare Department would officially change its departmental name to

that of the Department of Social Services, of which the chief officer in

charge would be designated "Director".
