C"' ,.. ~s.. TUESDAY AUGUST 24, 1976 ,.- Streets from "C-3 Commercial" to "M-2 Industrial". Mr. James H. Ford, Attorney at Law and Chairman of the Planning Commission, referring to the August 10th action of Council whereby the "C-2" provisions of the Zoning Ordinance were amended, expressed the hope, on behalf of the Planning Commission, that Council can devise some way of deferring action on zoning matters ~- where, because of some unusual facets, the Planning Commission might require considerable study and might not be able to process certain rezoning petitions or zoning amendments within a reasonable period of time. Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the executing--by City Manager No1and--of a contract with Mr. Roy C. Stone whereby the City will extend water and sewer lines and contribute such other improvements as are required under the City's Subdivision Ordinance for Mr. Stone's proposed housing development project (consisting of approximately one hundred lots), identified as the Forest Lake Subdivision and situated on the north side of Rives Road near Lawson Street and east of the Norfolk & Western Railway right-of-way near the City's southwest corporate limits. It was estimated that the City's cost of providing water and sewer services for this project will amount to $125,000.00. On behalf of Council, Vice-Mayor Hobson and Councilmen Fitz-Hugh and Greene presented to Mayor Boaz a gavel, with appropriate inscription thereon, and to Mayor Boaz and Councilman Lester each an engraved plaque denoting their tenures (Mayor Boaz as a member of Council from September 1, 1960 through August 31, 1976, as Vice Mayor from September 1, 1972 through August 31, 1974, and as Mayor from September 1, 1974 through August 31, 1976: and Councilman Lester as a member of -_._---,.__.._------"~_._~_._._,."--,-_.__.__..__._.-
