<br />{- ."> <br />'" <br />I-,~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 27, 1976 <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of the City's administrative staff, Council approved a draft <br /> <br />of contracts to be submitted to area jurisdictions, setting forth the terms and <br /> <br />conditions under which the City's Prison Farm will accept and take custody of <br /> <br />prisoners from these jurisdictions, said contracts to be similar to the City's <br /> <br />contract (effected July 1, 1975) with the State's Department of Corrections. <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation, a proposed abandonment (by quit-claim deed) of a small area of <br /> <br />City right-of-way situated along the southwest side of Pine Hall Road, between <br /> <br />Wray Street and Yorkshire Road, which abandonment would accommodate an improved <br /> <br />realignment of said Pine Hall Road at this point. <br /> <br />Upon request of the City's Juvenile Court's Service Unit, Council appropriated <br /> <br />the sum of $2,142.00 to said Unit for the purchase of certain equipment, to be <br /> <br />financed by a local agency's contribution of $108.00, by $107.00 from the <br /> <br />Commonwealth of Virginia, and by $1,927.00 from the Federal Government. <br /> <br />Upon being apprised of the fact that the Appalachian Power Company, by author i- <br /> <br />zation recently granted by the State Corporation Commission, will add a surcharge <br /> <br />of 6.9% to the electric charges against Appalachian's jurisdictional customers, <br /> <br />effective August 1, 1976, Council unanimously went on record as stating that the <br /> <br />City's policy, as to the City's electric tariffs and conditions, now and in the <br /> <br />future, will be to parallel Appalachian's tariffs and conditions, presently and as <br /> <br />they may subsequently be amended. With authorization to the City's Utility Billing <br /> <br />Division to effect and parallel the aforementioned 6.9% surcharge as soon as can be <br /> <br />conveniently effected, no sooner than--but perhaps with--bills to be rendered <br /> <br />September 1, 1976, and upon City Attorney Worthy's advice, Council indicated that <br />
