<br />..- <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />....' l''l. <br />. t <br />.J- ,_ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 23, 1976 <br /> <br />After receiving, through Mr. George W~ Brown, Chairman of the special <br /> <br />CBD Parking Study Committee, a parking study report and recommendations <br /> <br />incorporated therein~ on which members of Council, along with interested <br /> <br />citizens and businessmen from the "downtown" area, were briefed on the <br /> <br />afternoon of March 23, 1976, Council suggested that the special committee <br /> <br />and City officials not only review the report and give further study to <br /> <br />same but also publicize the report in order that Council might have the <br /> <br />benefit of citizen response at its next regular meeting. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of the several local constitutional officers'm <br /> <br />budget requests for fiscal 1976-77~ taking same under advisement for <br /> <br />consideration at the time Council receives and/or acts upon the total <br /> <br />City 1976-77 budget to be presented by City Manager Noland. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation by City Manager Noland~ Council authorized the entering <br /> <br />into an agreement or a contract with the National Aeronautics & Space <br /> <br />Administration as to Phase 1 of a research project whereby, eventually <br /> <br />and/or possibly, this agency might construct a wind-driven generator <br /> <br />to produce electrical energy in Martinsvi11e, said Phase 1 being an <br /> <br />instrumentation study as a basis upon which NASA will determine the <br /> <br />feasibility of the proposed project. <br /> <br />Upon motion~ duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council reappointed <br /> <br />Mr. George W. Brown, Assistant City Manager-Public Works Director, as the <br /> <br />City's citizen-member to the West Piedmont Planning Discrict Commission <br /> <br />for an interim term beginning April 1, 1976 (March 31, 1976 being the <br /> <br />expiration of Mr. Brown's regular three-year term) and ending June 30~ 1976~ <br />
