V. Cable Company of Mansfield, operator <br /> <br />of Martinsvi11e Cable Vision. Appearing on behalf of Martinsville <br /> <br />Cable Vision and the franchise holder were Mr. Douglas K. Frith~ <br /> <br />Attorney at Law and Counsel for petitioner~ and Mr. C. L. Robbins, <br /> <br />Manager of Martinsvi11e Cable Vision~ who asked that their originally- <br /> <br />proposed amendment to Section 2 of said franchise (ordinance) be <br /> <br />deleted~ having to do with the life of the franchise. In addition, <br /> <br />petitioner indicated that the requested increase~ if a1lowed~ in <br /> <br />maximum rates to be charged its customers in Martinsvi11e would not <br /> <br />become effective until such time as arrangements are made and <br /> <br />facilities installed whereby programs emanating from two independent <br /> <br />stations in Washington, D. C., will be made available to local <br /> <br />subscribers through Channels 5 and 9~ being from Channels 5 and 20. <br /> <br />In this connection~ as to programming from said two independent stations~ <br /> <br />Mr. David W. Gillespie, of 1006 Valient Lane, on the basis of past <br /> <br />programs from these two stations, of which he had knowledge~ indicated <br /> <br />that--in his opinion--programs offered are not desirable for viewing by <br /> <br />children; however, after examining a new schedule of programming from <br /> <br />these two stations~ Mr. Gillespie withdrew his objections; whereupon <br /> <br />motion~ duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the <br /> <br />following ordinance effecting said proposed amendments~ as revised <br /> <br />and as incorporated is said ordinance: <br />
