In connection therewith~ Mr. Frith indicated that <br /> <br />his client proposes to bring in two additional CATV channels, viz., from <br /> <br />two independent TV stations in Washington~ D. C., but until such time as <br /> <br />this proposal is effected~ the proposed and requested monthly subscription <br /> <br />(or rate) increase would be postponed. Said proposed amendments also <br /> <br />would provide for an extension of the current franchise for a period of <br /> <br />fifty-nine (59) months from effective date of these amendments. Upon <br /> <br />motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried~ Council directed that <br /> <br />( <br />said proposed ordinance (franchise) amendments be published as required <br /> <br />by Section 15.1-314 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950~ and as amended) and <br /> <br />that a public hearing be conducted on same at Council's forthcoming <br /> <br />February 24th meeting. <br /> <br />Council formally acknowledged receipt of a petition filed with the <br /> <br />Circuit Court of Henry County, under date of January 14, 1976, by <br /> <br />Mr. G. Randolph We1ls~ et a1s, through Broaddus~ Epperly & Broaddus, <br /> <br />Attorneys at Law~ seeking annexation to the City of Martinsville of <br /> <br />certain territory adjacent to the City's corporate limits on Route 57 <br /> <br />East (Chatham Heights area~ being in the Iriswood Magisterial District <br /> <br />of Henry County), for reasons set forth in said petition which has been <br /> <br />duly published. By a recorded and unanimous vote~ Council adjourned <br /> <br />into an Executive Session for the purpose of being briefed on said <br /> <br />petition or motion for annexation~ during which session Council <br /> <br />conferred with the petition principal, Mr. G. Randolph Wells, and <br /> <br />Mr. Junius P. Warren~ Attorney at Law and Counsel for petitioners~ <br />
