<br />128 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 30, 1975 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor Harry L. Boaz presiding, was held Tuesday, December 30, <br /> <br />1975, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members <br /> <br />being present, viz., Harry L. Boaz, Mayor; William D. Hobson, Vice Mayor; <br /> <br />G. S. Fitz-Hugh, Jr.; Barry A. Greene; and }10rton W. Lester. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved--as reoorded--the minutes of its <br /> <br />regular meeting held December 9, 1975. <br /> <br />By letter of petition dated December 18, 1975, Dr. William M. Chadduck <br /> <br />requested the rezoning to "C-2 Commercial" those two certain lots situated <br /> <br />between Dudley Street and Taylor's Market on or near Northside Drive, said <br /> <br />two lots petitioner proposes to purchase from Mr. Victor A. Lester and <br /> <br />Mr. & Mrs. W. E. Nichols, respectively, the present owners. Council referred <br /> <br />this request to the Planning Commission for its consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of the local (National Guard) Armory Advisory Board, <br /> <br />Council unanimously adopted the following revisions and/or changes in the policies <br /> <br />governing the use of the local Virginia National Guard Armory by community or <br /> <br />civic organizations: <br /> <br />1. That under the section on charges for use, that the rate for <br />commercial use be increased from $125.00 per day to $150.00 per day. <br /> <br />2. That the rate for use by charitable organizations to raise <br />money be increased from $50.00 per day to $75.00 per day. <br /> <br />3. The janitorial fees be increased from $10.00 to $20.00. <br /> <br />4. That opening and closing costs be increased from $10.00 to $12.00. <br /> <br />5. That Council's ordinance requlrlng a permit from the City Manager's <br />office to hold a dance be included in the policy. <br /> <br />6. That the ABC Board's requirement for obtaining a permit before alcohol <br />may be taken in or consumed in the Armory also be referenced in this <br />policy. <br />
