lGO TUESDAY OCTOBER 14, 1975 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor Harry L. Boaz presiding, was held Tuesday, October 14, 1975, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., Harry L. Boaz, Mayor; William D. Hobson, Vice Mayor; G. S. Fitz-Hugh, Jr.; Barry A. Greene; and Morton W. Lester. After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held September 9, 1975. Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on Nationwide Homes' property rezoning request (filed June 24, 1975 and subsequently recommended for approval by the Planning Commission) seeking the rezoning of petitioner's property off the east side of Brookdale Road, near Griggs Road. There being no objections registered against the requested rezoning, Council unanimously adopted the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Map, effecting said requested rezoning: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this fourteenth day of October, 1975, that the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be, and is hereby, amended to effect and reflect the following rezoning of properties owned by Nationwide Homes, Inc., which properties are situated east of Brookdale Road, between Griggs Road and the Carolina & Northwestern Railway Company's right-of-way, near or adjacent to the City's East Corporate Limits: (a) approximately sixty-five (65) acres from "R-9 Residential" to "R-6 Residential"; and (b) that portion of approximately ten (10) acres adjacent to and paralleling the Carolina & Northwestern Railway Company's right-of-way, not already zoned "M-3 Industrial", from "R-9 Residential" to "M-3 Industrial".
