<br />~"1 i f- <br />l.\} <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 8, 1975 <br /> <br />Virginia General Assembly, would deliver the principal address. <br /> <br />In connection with the proposed widening of West Church Street, on the south <br /> <br />side from City Hall to Bridge Street, and the proposed widening of Bridge <br /> <br />Street, on its west side paralleling the downtown U. S. Postoffice branch <br /> <br />property, Council adopted the following resolution requesting the Federal <br /> <br />General Services Administration to donate necessary right-of-way for said <br /> <br />widening along its property, meanwhile noting that other required right-of-way <br /> <br />has been (or is being) donated by the First Federal Savings & Loan Association <br /> <br />of Martinsville: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville desires to widen that certain <br />section of Church Street between Moss and Bridge Streets, and that <br />section of Bridge Street from Church Street approximately two <br />hundred feet southward; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to authorize said project, for which local funds <br />are available, it will be necessary for the City of Martinsville <br />to possess approximately ten feet of additional right-of-way along <br />a portion of the south side of said section of Church Street, and <br />five feet along a portion of Bridge Street on the west side, which <br />land includes the site and property of the United States Branch <br />Post Office for Martinsville; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this eighth day of July, 1975, that <br />the General Services Administration of the United States Government <br />be--and is hereby--apprised of the intention and desire of the City <br />of Martinsville to widen the aforesaid block of Church Street and <br />that certain portion of said Bridge Street; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said Council that the said General Services <br />Administration be--and is hereby--requested to convey to the City of <br />Martinsville approximately ten feet of right-of-way along its <br />Martinsville Post Office side parallel to the south side of Church <br />Street, west of the intersection of Church and Bridge Streets, and <br />also approximately five feet of right-of-way along the west side <br />of Bridge Street, and more specifically set forth in supporting <br />documents to be filed pursuant to the General Services Administration's <br />outline dated June 24, 1975, addressed to Mr. James W. Hopkins, <br />Assistant to the Public Works Director for the City of Martinsville. <br />
