<br />.- <br /> <br />\~.... <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 24, 1975 <br /> <br />Antenna Television Franchise from Martinsville Cablevision, Inc., by sale and <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />assignment, to the Mansfield Journal Company (of Mansfield, Ohio) and/or its <br /> <br />wholly-owned subsidiaries: <br /> <br />,_. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled June 24, 1975, that--pursuant to Section <br />17 of the Community Antenna Television System franchise granted <br />March 22, 1966 to C. Harry Anglin, which franchise was subsequently <br />assigned to Martinsville Cablevision, Inc., and was amended December 11, <br />1973--based upon representations by F. E. Kane, Treasurer of Mansfield <br />Journal Company, to the City Manager of the City of Martinsville under <br />date of June 18, 1975, hereby approves the sale and assignment of <br />said franchise to Mansfield Journal Company and/or its wholly-owned <br />subsidiaries; provided, however, that Mansfield Journal Company <br />shall at all times remain liable for the performance of the obligations <br />contained in said franchise. <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation, an application (presented verbally by Mr. Wm. Carl Edwards) for a <br /> <br />Special-Use Permit to allow the Martinsville Sportsmen's Club to convert and <br /> <br />occupy the former Community Hospital premises for community recreational purposes. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged--and filed for upcoming annual review--a petition filed by <br /> <br />Mr. Joseph E. Finley and others, requesting the construction of curb-and-gutter <br /> <br />on Roundabout Road. <br /> <br />In anticipation of "LEAA" reimbursement funds and to provide for the payment of an <br /> <br />obligation against these anticipated funds, Council appropriated the sum of <br /> <br />$12,719.83 to the Police Department's budget (i.e., for radio equipment). <br /> <br />By letter dated June 24, 1975, Nationwide Homes, Inc., requested the rezoning of its <br /> <br />property located east of Brookdale Road, near Griggs Road, viz., that approximately <br /> <br />ten acres of land adjacent to and paralleling the Carolina & Northwestern Railway <br />
