Sims, a resident of Cascade, Virginia, appeared before <br /> <br />Council and contended that meetings of the Regional Library Board should <br /> <br />be open to the public under the Virginia "Freedom of Information" Act, <br /> <br />especially to enable interested citizens to attend and offer comments and <br /> <br />suggestions. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council convened into <br /> <br />an Executive Session for the purposes of (1) considering the appointment of <br /> <br />a CPA firm to audit the City's records for the fiscal year ending June 30, <br /> <br />1975, and (2) to consider litigation of interest to the City now pending <br /> <br />before the United States Supreme Court. Following said Executive Session, <br /> <br />Council reconvened into regular session and (1) appointed the CPA firm of <br /> <br />Ford, Hogg & Cobbe to conduct audits of the City's financial records for <br /> <br />the fiscal years ending June 30, 1975, June 30, 1976, and June 30, 1977; <br /> <br />and (2) authorized an expenditure or contribution of $100.00 to the National <br /> <br />League of Cities, through the Virginia Municipal League, toward the cost <br /> <br />of legal and other expenses in representing the position of local governments <br /> <br />as to the application of the Fair Labor Standards Act to local governments, <br /> <br />now being contested by local governments before the United States Supreme <br /> <br />Court, against which application a temporary injunction has been obtained. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />2GSl~~'\ ~ ~~y--> <br />W.
