<br />ilJlll <br />~'-l <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 6, 1975 <br /> <br />"Sister City" program, suggesting that the Chamber of Commerce--with <br /> <br />input from various local civic clubs--study this matter and report <br /> <br />back to Council. <br /> <br />A matter currently in litigation before the United States Supreme Court <br /> <br />was unanimously continued for consideration in Executive Session. <br /> <br />Through Mr. John W. Swezey, Attorney at Law and member of the <br /> <br />Martinsville-Henry County Regional Library Board, Council was apprised of <br /> <br />a proposal by the Regional Library Board to enlarge the area presently <br /> <br />served by the Library whereby Patrick County might become a part thereof <br /> <br />and, eventually, Franklin County might join in, all of which would necessitate <br /> <br />re-writing and/or replacing the present contract between Martinsville and <br /> <br />Henry County as well as a probable realignment of the present Library Board <br /> <br />as to number of members and/or representation. Council went on record as <br /> <br />endorsing the regional concept, i.e., to include Patrick County, with Council's <br /> <br />final action thereon or statement of position pending receipt and review of said <br /> <br />proposed contract before May 27, 1975. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a verbal request filed by the Seventh Day <br /> <br />Adventist Church requesting permission to use Community Park for a tent <br /> <br />revival for a one-week period during the forthcoming month of July. Council <br /> <br />deferred action on said verbal request, pending receipt of the request in <br /> <br />writing. <br /> <br />Council filed for its forthcoming annual review a petition requesting the <br />
