j

TUESDAY

APRIL 8, 1975

-

The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville,

Virginia, with Mayor Harry L. Boaz presiding, was held Tuesday, April 8,

1975, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members

being present, viz., Harry L. Boaz, Mayor; William D. Hobson, Vice Mayor;

G. S. Fitz-Hugh, Jr.; Barry A. Greene; and Morton W. Lester.

After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its

regular meeting held March 25, 1975.

After receiving a report from City Attorney David B. Worthy, setting forth

procedures required under amended State statutes for establishing liens on

delinquent real estate taxes, Council concurred in the suggestion that the

City Treasurer proceed with the public advertising of delinquent real estate

taxes, pursuant to the provisions of the amended statutes, following which

Council will determine if chancery suit processes will be initiated.

-<-

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council appointed

Dr. John D. French as a member of the "Chapter 10" Board of the Piedmont

Regional Mental Health & Mental Retardation Services agency for a term

expiring December 31, 1977, filling the vacancy thereon (as one of the

City's two member-representatives) resulting from the expiration on December 31,

1974, of the term of Mrs. Frances H. Monday.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the

refunding of some thirty dollars ($30.00) to the J. B. Oakley Estate,

_._---,._._._------~,-
