<br />1 <br />< <br />R~4 , <br /> <br />November 14, 2006 <br /> <br />Council next heard the monthly update from the Martinsville-Henry <br /> <br />County Economic Development Corporation. Mark Heath first introduced <br /> <br />representatives from Dewberry & Davis who gave a power point presentation of <br /> <br />the Martinsville Virtual Shell Building in the Clearview Industrial Park. He <br /> <br />handed out fliers on the Patriot Centre shell building and the Athena Building <br /> <br />and gave updates. He also presented the retail site determination portion of <br /> <br />the recent Buxton study and indicated they are currently soliciting 20 <br /> <br />companIes. Framed pictures of the ground breaking for the shell building at <br /> <br />the Patriot Centre were presented to Council. <br /> <br />City Manager Collins made brief comments on the request to rezone 707, <br /> <br />709 and 711 Fayette Street and 100 Sellers Street, known on the Tax Map of <br /> <br />the City of Martinsville as 31(2) H/17R. 17S, 3R, 18 from R-6 Residential to C- <br /> <br />3 Commercial. The public hearing will be advertised for the November 28 <br /> <br />meeting. <br /> <br />City Attorney Eric Monday referred to his Memo to Council dated <br /> <br />November 8, 2006 giving options to remedy blight in the City. After discussion <br /> <br />and questions by Council, the City Manager was directed to request that <br /> <br />Community Development increase the size of the signs displayed on the <br /> <br />property of repeat violators of current ordinances, to identify all properties with <br /> <br />five or more complaints over a 24-month period, publicize a list on MGTV22 <br /> <br />and take the necessary steps to prosecute the worst offenders.
