<br />c\ <br />,d <br /> <br />October 24,2006 <br /> <br />meeting with Jim Hunt of the National League of Cities about being an "all <br /> <br />inclusive" city. <br /> <br />At the Mayor's request, the Clerk is making contact with Kelly Braxton of <br /> <br />First Virginia Cities to schedule a time for her to come to Martinsville, tour the <br /> <br />City and attend a Council work session. <br /> <br />Mayor Reynolds announced three board/commission openIngs - Blue <br /> <br />Ridge Regional Library Board, Transportation Safety Commission and the West <br /> <br />Piedmont Disability Services Board and encouraged citizens to apply. He also <br /> <br />mentioned that he has a meeting scheduled with Joyce Grogan of Social <br /> <br />Services next week to get additional information from her concerning the issue <br /> <br />of the proposed new building for Social Services and the Health Department. <br /> <br />City Manager Collins read a note from Tommy Rakes of Nationwide <br /> <br />Homes thanking the Fire Department for their recent quick response to a small <br /> <br />fire last week. He also mentioned that he had received a report from the Fire <br /> <br />Chief indicating that since 1998 a total of $2,001,617 had been received in <br /> <br />grants with only a cost of $218,907 to the City. <br /> <br />City Attorney Eric Monday reminded citizens that Halloween will be <br /> <br />observed on the 31 st. <br />
