<br />fa' <br />:.. ~ . <br />'I... <br /> <br />October 24, 2006 <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Clark made comments about the personal property tax bills <br /> <br />and the vehicle fees, which replace the issuance of city decals and asked the <br /> <br />City Manager to give a brief explanation. City Manager Collins also indicated <br /> <br />that Matt Hankins had interviewed Pat Conrad, City Treasurer, and would be <br /> <br />running the question and answer session on MGTV22. <br /> <br />Council Member Anderson expressed his appreciation for the three <br /> <br />quarterly reports and indicated that Council needs to start addressing the <br /> <br />shortfall anticipated in the FY08 budget now rather than later. <br /> <br />Council Member Lawson expressed her thanks to the volunteers who <br /> <br />helped clean up Wilson Park, to the Harvest Foundation for the gift to the city <br /> <br />and county and extended congratulations to the New College for their ribbon <br /> <br />cutting ceremony. She also indicated that she had recently met with Wayne <br /> <br />Knox concerning the blight areas in the City and with the Ruth Easley, <br /> <br />Commissioner of the Revenue, concerning the current policy on tax-exempt <br /> <br />status. <br /> <br />Council Member Ferrill also mentioned the New College ceremony <br /> <br />indicating that the initiative represents a lot of people working together to <br /> <br />achieve a goal that will help to bring Martinsville forward. <br /> <br />Mayor Reynolds welcomed two new residents to the City who were in <br /> <br />attendance at the meeting. He expressed appreciation in being able to attend <br /> <br />the Mayor's Institute recently followed by the Virginia Municipal League annual <br /> <br />meeting, which was also attended by all members of Council and the City <br /> <br />Manager.
